Working with AI
- Claude — code review, architecture discussions, writing
- Claude Code — terminal-based coding on larger changes
- ChatGPT — quick lookups and second opinions
Default stack
- Next.js / React — frontend, almost every project starts here
- Node.js / NestJS — backend when it needs real structure
- PostgreSQL / MongoDB — relational by default, Mongo for quick prototypes
- Docker — so local matches deploy
Hosting & deployment
- AWS — EC2, Lambda and S3 when a project needs real infrastructure
- Vercel — default for anything Next.js — push to deploy
- Heroku — older services that are happy where they are
- Railway / DartNode — VPS hosting when I want a plain box to myself
Local setup
- VS Code — daily driver, few extensions
- Postman — poking at APIs
- DBeaver — database client, whatever the engine
